Lifetime sales are one of the few places where gaming's conventional wisdom falls apart. A quietly released indie can outsell a studio blockbuster, a game bundled with a console can bury a critical darling, and a mobile port can quietly outsell the entire series that spawned it.
This quiz puts two titles side by side and shows you how many copies one of them has sold. You decide whether the hidden number is higher or lower. Get it right and your streak grows; get it wrong and the run ends. Figures cover lifetime units across all platforms and are approximate, because the game only ever compares the relative order of two numbers.
If you grew up with the cartridge era you will recognise most of the names here, but the modern entries are where streaks tend to die. Minecraft and Grand Theft Auto V sit at the very top; the interesting decisions are further down.

How it works
You are shown two items side by side. One reveals its number; the other hides it behind a question mark. Decide whether the hidden value is higher or lower, and every correct call extends your streak. One wrong guess ends the run. If the two values are equal the answer counts as correct either way, so a tie never costs you anything. The game is free, runs entirely in your browser, and needs no account.
