What the game is
Higher or Lower shows you two things at a time. One reveals a statistic — copies sold, critic score, population, horsepower — and the other hides it. You decide whether the hidden number is higher or lower, and every correct call extends your streak. One wrong guess ends the run, so every decision counts. It is the kind of game you start during a coffee break and somehow finish twenty rounds later.
Why we built it
We love the strange, surprising facts hiding in plain sight: the quiet indie that outsold a blockbuster, the moon that is bigger than a planet, the centuries-old novel still outselling modern bestsellers. Higher or Lower turns those facts into a quick, replayable challenge that works on any device, with no install and no account.
Where the data comes from
The game uses a fixed, curated collection of approximate figures, assembled around mid-2026; it is not a live statistics service. Dates and definitions differ between categories, and older estimates can change the order of close comparisons. Read our sources and methodology for the comparison rules and reference links. Card illustrations are original category graphics, not official product artwork.
Privacy in short
No account is required. Personal bests, language and sound preferences stay in your browser. If you submit a global leaderboard entry, the server receives your chosen display name and score.
